I had been wanting to try something different for a while, and a lot of my other friends had been recommending Vegas. I figured then would be a good time, and decided to make the switch, as this would be a one time pay and is fairly priced for what you get. I've been using Vegas for about 3 months now. For me, it was not worth the switch. There are a few features that I like in Vegas, but it just doesn't seem like the software done. I like how there are built in tutorials, but they only cover the basic stuff, which is not what I need. Going off of basic stuff, there are too many steps involved to do something as simple as cropping a video. This is definitely not for someone who is just starting off, and I would not recommend it for someone who is looking for a different editing software. If the software was more complete and cleaner, I might give it 3, but even that might be too much.
I've gotten free trials from other software that are cheaper and easier to use that don't bring all of the features, though , and it might have been better to go with one of those. If you really are looking for something that can get the basics done and then some, and are willing to spend some time learning, then go for it. I like the software but I have a problem so far with the registration of the product. It seems that it has been registered already to the manufacturer and I cant get the program to work it keeps popping an error code. Anyhow, I will be contacting the seller to see what the problem is. This program is nearly identical to version The biggest difference is a couple new 4k codecs and slightly better rendering speed with gpu encoding. It's an easy to use editor and I really like it but version 13 is cheaper so unless you absolutely need to do 4k I'd stick with 13 otherwise I'd give this 4 stars. I'm still learning the software but from my experience with it this far is really good, It's worth the time you put into it. This is a good buy it came with other software as well, DVD Architect and MAGIX Music Maker I recommend it. I have to say I was impressed with how easy and quick this was to use. I needed to quickly edit a new demo reel and this more than got the job done.
If you need simple and effective editing software, I'd definitely look here. No crashes, no bugs. I was not was not easy on the software and it held up well. Maybe not great for the top tier, super advanced, but for simple and clean you can't do much better. Not sure what the issue is, but some features simply do not work.
